RenRiot Announces Powerful New Single Confronting Gender-Based Violence
Washington, DC - Black queer emo rock band, RenRiot, emerging from the DC music scene, announces the release of their highly anticipated second studio single. Building on the raw intensity of their debut, this new track channels the band’s rage into a fierce stand against violence targeting marginalized communities - centering especially on the lived realities of women facing gender-based violence.
Driven by searing emotion and pure, uncontrollable rage, fantasizing about harming abusers back, the single captures RenRiot’s signature blend of emo vulnerability and punk defiance. The band transforms pain into protest, delivering a track that is both cathartic and mobilizing - an anthem for resistance, survival, and collective power.
The single was produced by Evan Kornblum at Stage Music Arts, whose dynamic approach helped shape the track’s visceral sound. Kornblum also contributed guitar on the second verse, adding another layer of intensity to the song’s already charged atmosphere.
In addition to the release, RenRiot is bringing their message directly to the stage with two upcoming benefit performances supporting efforts to combat gender-based violence:
April 25 — Pie Shop (Washington, DC), supporting Volare alongside Griefcat and Deborah Bond
April 26 — The Garage (Boyds, MD), supporting Mac N’ Toss’ Riot!DC Festival
These shows reflect the band’s ongoing commitment to activism through music, creating spaces where community, awareness, and action intersect.
With this release, RenRiot continues to carve out a vital space in the alternative music landscape - amplifying voices too often silenced and proving that music can be both deeply personal and politically urgent.
“‘Hunt You Down’ was written as I reflected on the stories of countless women facing the same sort of violence. Sexual assault doesn’t even feel rare anymore. The president of [the United States] is a convicted abuser. There were thousands of documents released exposing an entire network of abusers running our world and nothing was done about it. We’re not taking this anymore. These people need to know they’re not safe around us.” - Ren Wright
Promotional visuals were crafted intentionally by Wright, with a focus on embodying the feeling of being in a daze and out of control when experiencing and reflecting on sexual assault culture in this world. The visuals are meant to reflect what she sees when she closes her eyes, fantasizing about turning pain into power.
“Safe nowhere. Behind you is me.”
“Hunt You Down” releases on all platforms on April 30, 2026.
